Paul Butcher - Trumpet, Jazz Piano, Accordion, & Ukulele
PaulButcher is a professional trumpeter, jazz pianist, accordion, and ukulele performer, composer/arranger, and educator. His first professional job was with the Air Force Academy Band. Upon leaving the USAF Academy Band Paul continued his career in Nashville, TN performing on TV shows, jingles, and recordings as well as touring with numerous groups. Since moving to Florida, Paul’s versatility on trumpet has allowed him opportunities to perform with orchestras, Broadway shows, opera companies, recording and TV studios, and as a featured soloist in numerous jazz groups. Notables Paul has performed with include Henry Mancini, the Woody Herman Big Band, Ray Charles, Natalie Cole, Burt Bacharach, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Rosemary Clooney. As an educator, Paul has taught at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL for the past six years where he has been the director of jazz studies, trumpet instructor, and professor in the music management program. Prior to that, he taught for 15 years at Southeastern University where he developed a full jazz studies program.
Kay Endlsey - Piano & Flute
Kay Endsley teaches flute and beginner/intermediate piano at Lemon Street Music Studios. She has taught flute for the past 10+ years with experience in both private and group instruction. She studied flute with Dr. Ronald Wain at the University Of Georgia School Of Music, and at the University of South Florida where she earned her Graduate degree in Flute Performance under the instruction of Dr. Kim McCormick.
Kay is a member of the National Flute Association, Florida Flute Association, and Florida Music Educators Association. She has previously performed as principal piccolo with the Lanier Orchestra League and as a flutist with the Tampa Bay Flute Choir. She is married to her husband of 28 years, has homeschooled their 4 children (now in their 18th year of homeschooling), and has a very special affection for her 2 cats and 2 dogs.
Will Christian - Guitar
Will Christian is a naturally gifted professional visual artist, musician, and song-writer and has been performing at festivals and venues throughout Central Florida for more than 20 years. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts/Drawing from the University of South Florida, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Guitar Performance from Florida Southern College, where he studied under Dr. Mark Switzer. He has also studied with several notable musicians, including the LA Guitar Quartet and the world-renowned classical/flamenco guitarist, Pepe Romero. His teaching style reflects aspects of a true artist that are also necessary to teach well—great patience, and attention to detail. Will has a passion for writing and a great love for people. He lives with his wife Lauren and their daughter Piper in Lakeland, FL, and currently teaches guitar at Lemon Street Music Studios.
James Cook - Drums
James Cook heads up the drum department at Lemon Street Music, and has studied and performed throughout the U.S. as a drummer/percussionist for 15 + years. He has studied the styles of jazz, latin, rock, and gospel with top musicians including Derico Watson, Steve Harris, Tim Froncek, and local drum master Ian Goodman. James has played in many jazz bands and ensembles receiving recognition and awards at music festivals such as the Western Michigan Jazz Festival, and the Musicfest Orlando Competition. His teaching method incorporates sight-reading rudiments and charts, hand and stick technique, development of improvisation and writing skills, as well as analyzing many different genres and styles of drumming. James is currently playing with independent performing artists in Central Florida, as well as several local churches.
Chalis Butler - Piano
Chalis Butler has loved and pursued music for more than 30 years, and has taught piano for the last 15+ years in and around Central Florida as well as overseas. She studied piano performance at Florida Southern College and Florida Christian College, earning a Bachelor's degree from FCC in 1999. In 2005 she moved to Sydney, Australia to live and study at Hillsong International Leadership College where she earned a Diploma of Ministry in Worship and Creative Arts. Upon returning to the US in 2008, her desire to teach, equip and encourage “Creatives” fused with her love for song-writing became the catalyst for starting her own music school. She is now co-owner/director of Lakeland School Of Music.
Shane Butler - Guitar
Shane Butler began playing guitar at the age of 13 and within a short time acquired a love for music and a hunger for deeper understanding and ability on his instrument, which led him to study at Florida Southern College with Dr. Switzer, and Southeastern University with Dr. Paul Butcher where he earned his bachelor's degree. After graduating from Southeastern, Shane began "Shane Patrick's Guitar School" which he successfully owned and operated for 7 years, teaching hundreds of students across Polk County, at his personal studio, as well as after-school programs at Geneva Classical Academy, All Saints Academy, Highland Park Church, and The Covenant Center. On July 4th, 2014 he married his longtime friend and business rival Chalis (Stefani) Butler who also owned a successful music school in Downtown Lakeland (Play Me A Song). Together they merged businesses, and in January of 2015 officially released Lemon Street Music Inc., which has now evolved into Lakeland School Of Music.
Alvaro Pereiro - Violin
Alvaro Pereiro is the head violin instructor at Lemon Street Music. He has an incredible amount of education, training, and expertise on his instrument, and is a wonderful teacher for both adults and children as young as 3 years old.
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1986, Mr. Pereiro started his musical studies at the age of nine, and went on to study with Julia Bushkova at the University of North Texas, and Dr. Lin He at Louisiana State University. He has attended & performed for violin and chamber music masterclasses with the following accomplished violinists: Alberto Lysy, Julia Bushkova, Vladimir Tsypin from the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, and Mariusz Patyra - Gold Medalist at the 2001 International Paganini Competition, just to name a few.
He has been the recipient of multiple merit academic scholarships, and during his studies at Carmen Arriola de Marin School, he was appointed Concertmaster of its orchestra and beginner violin coach during 1999 until 2003.
Mr. Pereiro obtained his Bachelor of Music, magna cum laude, and his Master of Music degrees in Violin Performance from Louisiana State University, both under the instruction of Dr. Lin He. Upon graduation he joined Phi Kappa Phi: the oldest, most comprehensive and selective honor society in the United States.
Despite all of his training, achievements and credentials, Alvaro remains a very down-to-earth, humble, kind, and patient young man, who teaches with the same passion as he performs with. We are extremely fortunately to have him at Lemon Street Music.
